Golf Outing :: Quail Creek with Papa G, Jon, and Mother

After numerous unsuccessful attempts to get mother to play golf with us we finally got her this past Saturday. We planted flowers and cleaned up the house so she could go with us. Turns out mom is pretty good. We all had an enjoyable round. Papa G better watch out... Mother guaranteed that next year at this time she could beat him. This next year should be fun.

Golf Outing :: Forest Park Golf Course with Jon and Papa G

This golf outing was a couple weeks ago. In preparation for the state golf tournament, where Jon was going to compete, we went golfing at Forest Park. Jon and I are in the picture above with the Art Museum in the background. Our tee time was at 6:32 a.m. Of course, we started playing around 6 a.m. (Got to love Papa G) It was a little soggy on the course but a beautiful day. Jon beat me on the front nine but I came back and beat him by a stroke on the back with a 36. The greens were in great condition.

For the first time in my life I heard bag pipes while playing a round of golf. It was pretty neat and made me feel like I was in Scotland. We'll have to think about getting a bagpiper for the Fred Farmer 4th of July Classic. Overall, I'm glad we woke up so early and had a memorable experience on the course.

Jonathan's Graduation

Jonathan was the last of the Nile and Wendy Griffiths' clan to graduate from Lindbergh High School. I almost didn't make it to the event. That night, the singles branch was having a temple night and I was planning on attending until Jon put me on a guilt trip and I changed my mind. (I think he's been spending too much time with Grandma Farmer:) The ceremony was a little long but worth it to see Jon walk.

I thought the guy announcing his name sounded like the teacher in Ferris Bueller's Day Off; Bueller..Bueller..Bueller. Mr. Rudolf, our neighbor and member of the school board, came over to take the picture with Jon. Congrats Bro!

Jonathan's Eagle Scout Ceremony

To prepare for the Ceremony Jon and I were in charge of making some Reeses peanut butter cookies. We made a lot and decided to make a pile of the wrappers to help visualize how many wrappers we used. Jon ate a few of the peanut butter cups along the way and towards the end wasn't feeling too good.

Grandma, Grandpa, and Aunt Gloria all made it to Jon's ceremony held in the Firth's garage. They braved the stormy weather and were the life of the party.

This is when Jon and Tyler officially became Eagle Scouts. It was a memorable evening.

Frolfing :: One last time

I'll miss the late night frolfing adventures.

Graduation :: BYU 2008

I graduated from Brigham Young University a couple weeks ago. I loved my time at BYU and the opportunity I had to make good friends and gain an excellent education. My major was information systems and I loved the major. We had great professors and learned a lot of useful things. I'll miss playing hockey for BYU and the fun I had with friends at school.

My father (Papa G) came out for my graduation. We had a good time in Provo and drove home to St. Louis after graduation. On the way home we got into a car accident. Fortunately, no one was injured in the accident and we were still able to finish the drive after the accident. We made quick visits to Carolyn, in Kansas City and Emily, in Columbia to nap and regain strength to finish the trip.

Hello World!

I finally decided to get into the blog craze. Since I graduated from college a couple weeks ago I've had some more free time and blogging seems to be a great way to stay in touch with family and friends and keep a journal at the same time.
